Jenny Manilla
Jenny is a ceramic Artist
& Sculptor
My first exposure to creativity was when my mom would enter me into the local holiday coloring contest at the grocery store. I won three years in a row, and I got $5 each year!
Art has influenced me from a very young age. I have many family members who are artists, and art has always been a part of my life. I have a degree in graphic design from Lane Community College and then moved onto OSU on scholarship. Twenty years ago, I started in stained glass and attended a school fusing glass. Working in glass was a costly undertaking. I was making a living, but it was hard. That is when I moved onto clay. I had never worked with clay before, but I was drawn to it because I could build and sculpt with it. I loved the three-dimensional elements, and I also loved that it was also a canvas I could paint on. Clay was a perfect fit for me. Nature and animals are my inspiration. I also love using words and saying / proverbs to communicate lightness and humor. I’d love to work in metal and jewelry one day. |
