Alita pearl
Alita is a jeweler &
leather artisan
Entering my first Art Show with six fringed leather bags was the beginning of my artisan career. That was in Pacifica, just south of San Francisco. I did shows all over the west, Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, Texas, and California for the next 7 or 8 years.
Then I decided to add silver ornaments and buttons to the leather bags, jackets, vests I was making. Thinking I could make them at a better price myself, I took a jewelry making class at a community college. I was soon hooked on silversmithing and was lucky enough to be accepted at the Revere Jewelry Academy in San Francisco and taught by Alan Revere. I went on to make earrings, bracelets, and necklaces and sell them at my shows for another decade. Being infatuated with words, I started my ‘Talking Jewelry’ line to inspire and bring joy to my customers. When I moved back to Oregon, the distance made driving to my Southwest shows less appealing. I joined For ArtSake Gallery in 2010 and have been enjoying my participation ever since. |
