Marcy Kenyon
Marcy is a fine artist specializing in natural subjects. |
Marcy Kenyon is a visual thinker and maker of hand-made objects - sand box to art studio. She studied art at Scripps College for Women in Southern California, the Italian Renaissance in Rome, Italy, with Tyler School of Fine Art Abroad and eventually earned a BFA in printmaking from Tyler School of Fine Art in Philadelphia. After moving to New York City, she earned an MFA from Hunter College in Combined Media while working for several top galleries and foundations while exhibiting her work on Lower East Side.
After 19 years of juggling studio time with work, she turned to arts education, studying museum education, working with the Museum of Natural History, The Brooklyn Children’s Museum and the Bronx Botanical Garden. Armed with an MSed from Bank Street Graduate College of Education she was awarded a position at Fieldston Lower School teaching a hands-on workshop integrated with a social studies curriculum. Happily, she worked in any and all mediums with ages 7- 12. By the Hudson River, she reconnected with the natural world, creating a school garden and a summertime nature museum. She earned a Certificate of Botanical Illustration at the Bronx Botanical Garden and became immersed in drawing and painting with a basis in science observation. Since that time, she has retired and gladly settled on The Oregon Coast with her dog, Peanut, who she walks with by the water daily. |
