Belinda Nalls is a clay sculptor who approaches her work with curiosity, intuition, and a deep love for the material itself. She primarily creates high-fire sculptures, drawn to clay for its ability to be built up, carved away, and reshaped—sometimes repeatedly—until a piece reveals where it wants to go. While she often begins with a plan, Belinda happily follows the lead of the medium, honoring improvisation and discovery along the way.

Her current body of work features stacked, totem-like forms of birds and hands, exploring themes of relationship, transition, and transformation. Belinda frequently incorporates found natural elements such as wood and stone, creating work that feels grounded, tactile, and connected to the earth.

In the studio, she keeps things simple: water nearby, carving tools close at hand, and space for experimentation. Deeply inspired by other makers and the generous exchange of knowledge within the clay community, Belinda sees each piece as part of an ongoing conversation. She hopes her work invites viewers to slow down, bring their own stories forward, and discover meanings that feel personal and alive.
